In 2010 boom of foreign entrepreneurs in Italy. The golden palm to Lombardy

The image of the immigrant is often associated with that of the unskilled worker, the laborer and the idea that newcomers do "the jobs that Italians no longer want to do" has now entered common language. In contrast, this cliché seems to be partially denied by the data from the CNA study centre, referring to 2010, on "immigrant entrepreneurs" who are now 230, almost double compared to 5 years ago.
The incidence on the total number of entrepreneurs in the Bel Paese is now 8,5%. Driving the caravan are the Moroccans who represent 16,4% of foreign entrepreneurs, followed by the Romanians (15,4%), the Chinese (14,7%) and the Albanians (10,4%). The majority of foreign companies are concentrated in the building sector 37%, 35% in trade and repairs, 10% in manufacturing, 4% in services. The phenomenon, for now, has mainly concerned the central-northern regions, think that 78% of foreign companies are based in just six regions (Emilia Romagna, Veneto, Lombardy, Piedmont, Tuscany, Lazio). In particular, Lombardy, where 24% of companies are located, is the area with the greatest concentration. In terms of trend, however, businesses managed by foreigners are increasing throughout the peninsula: in the last three years the greatest increases have occurred in Puglia, Umbria, Liguria and Molise. The number of immigrant employees is also growing: in 2010 there were around 2 million non-EU workers, around 9,7% of national employment.
