Ncc in the streets against the Government: "200 thousand workers at risk"

Ncc on a war footing again. The ten-year clash between taxi drivers and car rental companies with driver is escalating again with the latter deciding to take to the streets in view of the entry into force of the new rules.

Indeed, from 1 January 2019 the Nccs will be forced to return to their garage between one transport service and another. A rule that according to those concerned would put 80 companies and 200 workers at risk.

A rule that on December 18 could bring thousands of people to the streets. The protest will be held in Rome, in Piazza della Repubblica, while at the same time a delegation of representatives of the category will be at the Ministry of Transport, where a meeting with the deputy minister, Edoardo Rixi, is scheduled.

At this point it is appropriate to make a summary of the previous episodes. The story goes back ten years ago. when with the Gasparri law it was decided to insert very stringent rules in the transport sector aimed at placating the excesses of taxi drivers, who have always been against entering the NCC market.

Since then, the provision on returning to the garage has been the subject of an infinite series of extensions. From next year, with the Lega-M5s government and without a further postponement in extremis, should officially enter into force.

In Piazza della Repubblica - reads the note from FAI and Confcommercio "companies and drivers will converge who, coming from all over Italy" who "will abstain from the service, and who say they ready to block airports, highways and cities in case the government bows to what they call the irrational will of the taxi drivers”.

"A lobby, the latter, which in 2008 - say the NCC trade associations - without following a parliamentary process guaranteed by the Constitution, obtained a change to the framework law of the charterers leading to very strict restrictions against us".

The companies of Fai, the Federation of car rental companies adhering to Confcommercio-Conftrasporto, will also participate in the event. They are asking the Government for a further extension of the entry into force of the decree to immediately revisit the framework law for non-scheduled public bus services.

Meanwhile, the main companies and associations representing rental companies with driver have created the "NCC Defense Committee" to "ask the government with one voice for a future with clear rules - reads a note - which preserves jobs and fill the regulatory vacuum.
