Nba: Warriors and Spurs dream, trouble for Grizzlies and Rockets

While Curry and Leonard collect records, Memphis has to deal with the injury of Marc Gasol and Houston finds itself out of the playoff zone, overtaken by Portland and Utah.

Nba: Warriors and Spurs dream, trouble for Grizzlies and Rockets

Another record week for i Golden State Warriors, arrived, with that of Phoenix, at 48 wins in 52 games, while the success of the previous evening at home against Houston brought the unbeaten streak between the friendly walls to 42 games (the last capable of violating the Oracle Arena were the Chicago Bulls on January 27 last year). There are no more adjectives to describe what the Warriors are doing this regular season. The same goes for Steph Curry, who started the last seven days setting her season high of 51 points (in 35 minutes) on the Washington court, just 3 points off her all-time high (54, on February 27, 2013 against the New York Knicks). A monstrous performance for the native of Akron who after the first quarter had already scored 25 points (!) with an unreal 7/8 from three (in the end the triples were 11, another record equaled by him) and 2/2 from two. But Curry and company's perfect week culminated when the Oklahoma City Thunder arrived in the bay, the last of the great ring rivals to have yet to cross paths with the reigning champions. And the response has always been the same: the Thunder also beaten, despite Kevin Durant's 40 points, and another strong signal sent to the whole company.

Immediately behind the practically perfect march of the San Antonio Spurs, only three victories away from the top of the class (45 won and 8 lost their record) and who a few days ago, thanks to Dallas' clear success on the field, equaled the best start in franchise history, with 42 hits in the top 50 seasonal matches, a feat already successful in 2010-2011 (a year which however ended with a sensational elimination in the first round of the playoffs at the hands of Memphis, after a 61-win regular season). Golden State and Spurs who together have rewritten another record, namely the one that for the first time in history two teams have won at least 42 of the first 50 games of the season (and in the last few days the meter has continued to run). Individual record also for Kawhi Leonard, who again in the match a few days ago against Dallas crossed the line of 232 victories in his first 300 regular season games, a 77,3% of successes that make the 2014 Finals mvp the player winningest in history in career first 300 games. To Leonard's advantage, obviously, the fact that he has always been part of a team that in all of his first 5 years as a pro has practically always been at the top of the standings.

With Oklahoma and Los Angeles Clippers stable in third and fourth place, i Memphis Grizzlies, not in terms of results, but for future prospects in view of the playoffs, given that the very bad news of Marc Gasol's broken foot has arrived. The magnetic resonance to which the Spaniard underwent gave the worst possible verdict: out indefinitely and this means, barring miracles, the season is over for the 31-year-old centre, Pau's younger brother. A beating for the Grizzlies, who shouldn't have major problems in hitting the playoffs, but who see their chances of making it through one or two post-season rounds drastically reduced, given that the importance of the Spanish number 33 goes far beyond the almost 17 points and 7 rebounds per game, and Zach Randolph, who should take center stage due to Marc's injury, at the age of 34 is starting to show some signs of slowing down (but don't give up on old Zebo, who even this season he is not missing his contribution of points and rebounds).

In terms of results, among the top eight they come out much worse after this last round of matches i Dallas Mavericks (only one success has come in the last 5, albeit a precious one, against Memphis in extra time) and the Houston Rockets. But if Nowitzki and his companions are still in sixth place (but with a now minimal margin from all the other pursuers), Harden's team has at the moment even slipped out of the top eight, overtaken by Portland e Utah, due to the last three defeats in a row (but if it is the practice with Golden State, the double knockout with Portland is bloody). The feeling is that in the end the two Texan formations should be able to snatch the pass for the post-season, but the Trail Blazers and the Jazz (last night beaten in the final on the field of the New Orleans Perlicans, but arrived one step away from the eighth win in a row) are going beyond all expectations, achieving consistent and all absolutely deserved results. Continuing like this, they will certainly annoy the most popular opponents until the end and one of the two could actually reach the playoffs, even if from behind Sacramento, Denver and New Orleans could return to the office.
