Surfing online on vacation, here's how much it costs in Italy and abroad

Surf online from mobile devices while on vacation it could get expensive, very expensive. According to calculations by SosTariffe.it, those spending the summer in Italy could end up spending 28 euros a month on additional traffic, while for foreign countries the figures rise exponentially: up to 200 euros for 2GB of traffic.

In fact, without ADSL, many users may find the data traffic included in the package purchased for smartphones, tablets or iPads insufficient and therefore need additional MB and GB.

Based on this consideration, SosTariffe.it  highlighted the costs and savings involved in requesting additional data traffic for a holiday in Italy or abroad.

Well, even those who do not use the internet from their mobile device frequently, to communicate via messaging apps or publish their photos on social networks may need 3GB more for a period of up to two months. This profile, classified as “I use Light” can spend on average around 7 euros to have 3 GB to use in 2 months, saving over 8 euros over the same period.

For those who use the internet frequently, the costs go up. In fact, in the two summer months, this profile, in the absence of ADSL, may need 12GB of traffic. In this case, requesting an additional plan would cost around 15 euros more, saving over 24 euros thanks to the promotions of the operators aimed at discounting the tariff plans with data traffic included.

Finally, according to SosTariffe.it, those who use the internet intensively will need 20 GB of traffic to watch videos, stream TV or something else. This type of consumer spends over 28 euros and saves 32 euros in 2 months.

The above figures increase if you navigate on the move outside Italy, although the costs to add up to 1 GB abroad are quite low, especially for those traveling to Europe or the United States. In these localities, buying 1 GB for mobile will cost an average of 12 euros, against almost 16 euros to add 500 MB. But you have to be careful, because intense use of the internet on mobile from other locations could cost as much as 200 euros a month.
