Support thewomen's access to scientific professions through financial contributions, mentoring and company orientation days. This is theEnel's goal Back to School program, now in its third edition.

The program aims to promote gender equality in the workplace and counter stereotypes that hold women back from undertaking STEM studies.

On the occasion of the World Day of Women in Science, celebrated today all over the world, Enel announced that the third edition of Back to School has involved over 730 students in the last year Italian and around 150 experts in the Group's STEM field.

Enel's Back to School program

Thanks to the program, yes they are meetings held in 61 Italian high schools where the professionals of the Enel group shared their experience and expertise with the third, fourth and fifth year students, encouraging them to undertake scientific studies.

The girls also participated in a challenge on futuristic themes, climate change and gender equality, presenting videos with strategies to address these challenges. The five female students with the most interesting proposals they received financial contributions of 5.000 euro each to support the costs of enrollment in STEM faculties.

Furthermore, the students had the opportunity to participate in orientation courses at Enel, valid for 20 hours of PCTO training credits (transversal skills and orientation courses).

The goal is to reduce the gender gap

Back to School by Enel is a concrete initiative by female empowerment which starts from schools and aims to reduce the gender gap. Currently, access to scientific professions, which are generally more in demand and better paid, is still predominantly male.

According to the Almalaurea Graduate Profile Survey, the majority of STEM graduates are men (59,1%), while women represent 40,9%. This gap is evident especially in the sectors of IT, ICT technologies and industrial and information engineering, where the male presence exceeds two thirds.

Enel's commitment to gender equality

The Back to School initiative is part of Enel's broader efforts to promote gender equality. Over the past 7 years, the company has conducted numerous activities globally involving over 30.000 girls. These initiatives include motivational talks, company orientation, soft skill development programs, scholarships and more.

Enel's commitment has been recognized by independent bodies, as demonstrated by its inclusion in the list for the fourth consecutive year Bloomberg's Gender Equality Index in 2023, confirming its role as a leading global company in the adoption of corporate policies favorable to gender inclusion.
