Trains, national strike on January 8: all the information

Coming inconvenience for travelers and commuters. Saturday 8 January will be held a national strike by Trenitalia employees organized by the Orsa and Ugl trade unions. The protest will concern all of Italy with only two exceptions: the Intercity and the regional transport of Liguria.

The strike will have a total duration of 8 hours, from 9 in the morning to 17 in the afternoon of 8 January, during which some trips published on the Trenitalia website. For long-distance and regional trains they could still "occur cancellations and changes”, warns the company. In regional transport, since the strike takes place outside the time slots of greater mobility (6-9 and 18-21), there are no minimum services to be ensured and the scheduling will be calibrated on the availability of personnel, Trenitalia further reports.

The protest could lead to inconvenience and reductions in the offer which will overlap with the cancellations already established due to the infections from Covid-19. The pandemic is in fact "causing a growing number of infections also among employees".

The company's recommendation “is therefore to hit the road after consulting i information channels mavailable from Trenitalia: the Trenitalia app, the Infomobility section of the website, the social and web channels of the FS Italiane Group, the free toll-free number 800 89 20 21”. Further information will be provided in the assistance offices of the railway stations, in the self-service shops, in the travel agencies which have an agreement with us and through the audio announcements always broadcast in the stations.
