The village of Carmagnola, in the province of Turin is preparing to host the 75 edition of its fame National Pepper Fair. The event, scheduled from 30 August to 8 September 2024 and with free entry, it promises to offer 10 days of entertainment and tastings for everyone, celebrating one of the most distinctive products of the area. Organized by the City of Carmagnola and produced, for the first time, by Sgp Grandi Eventi, the fair promises to be a culinary experience not to be missed.
The rich culinary tradition of Carmagnola pepper
The tradition of this event has its roots in local history. The Carmagnola pepper, originally coming from Peru but successfully adopted in the area since the early twentieth century, has become a true pillar of agriculture and the local economy. Grown using traditional and sustainable methods, this vegetable stands out for its thick pulp, sweet taste andhigh vitamin C content, qualities that have guaranteed its fame over time.
Available in variety such as the Quadrato, the Lungo known as Corno di Bue, the Trottola, the Quadrato elongata and the Tomaticot, the Carmagnola pepper lends itself to a vast range of preparations, from traditional Piedmontese cuisine to the most innovative dishes. The cultivation of this vegetable follows rigorous quality standards, guaranteeing a product that respects the environment and ancient agricultural practices.
