Un Christmas in the name of sustainability and of responsibility. A kilometer and a half of illuminations with images that tell the story of the capital and its beauties are added to the traditional fir tree in Piazza Venezia to remind the Romans of the arrival of Christmas. The initiative born from the collaboration between e That, Rome capital city, FAO, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation aims to sensitize citizens and tourists towards a culture of sustainability, attentive to both the environment and social issues.
"Roma by light Acea 2021" is an initiative launched by Acea in 2019, which allows for the creation of technological and sustainable Christmas lighting in the center of the capital, in via del Corso, and in the other fourteen town halls, with as many Christmas. To combine energy saving and enhancement of the city's artistic heritage, 300 LED lights were used, a Minimal environmental impact , which reduce daily energy consumption by 45%. The project has a modular structure that allows the plants to be built and modified and above all to be able to reuse them.
A project that this year marries with the campaign "Christmas in Rome - Let's give ourselves a sustainable city" launched by the Campidoglio in agreement with the FAO. In fact, a QR code has been placed under each tree to be scanned with concrete actions to be taken to change our lifestyle.
All citizens and tourists will be able to access the project content via an app. Thus, it will be possible to consult the 17 objectives of the 2030 Sustainable Agenda, the section with actions dedicated to children, the map of the trees distributed in the town halls and the link to the photographic contest promoted by Acea, active from 8 December to 10 January, to invite the public to tell and enhance the traditional Christmas light installations of via del Corso and the trees of the town halls through photographic shots. In addition to the web app, it will be possible to participate in the contest from the dedicated "Roma by light Acea" app, from which it will also be possible to access multimedia contents for further information on the monuments depicted in the installations
