A new Unicredit space was presented today, with the name of Unicredit Pavilion. The construction of the structure will be entrusted to the architect Michele De Lucchi, who won the tender for a project for a luminous building, open onto the park and the city. Pavilion will host economic and cultural events and initiatives, and will have a capacity of 700 people – although it will be possible to divide the space into different areas for the management of several smaller events at the same time.

The CEO of Unicredit Federico Ghizzoni commented on the start of construction of the new space explaining where the need for the initiative came from. “The idea was born as an internal need – explains Ghizzoni – because we lacked an auditorium and certain spaces. Within a very short time, the idea developed of using it also for the outside and therefore opening it to the city. The spaces will be used by Unicredit but also available to the Milanese community and beyond. Hence the idea of having a nursery school that will also host the children of non-employees: a sort of bridge between Unicredit and Milan”.

On the subject of timing, the CEO of Unicredit underlined that for the new space "the goal is to have it ready by the end of summer 2015 at the latest and therefore partly usable also for Expo 2015. The structure costs 17 mln, then there are other costs. We see it more as an investment than a cost. Hines Italia created the area and made the difference between the Milan of the past and that of the future”.

As highlighted by Paolo Gencarelli, Real Estate manager of the Unicredit group, the new multifunctional space of the group will be built next to the headquarters in Piazza Gae Aulenti. Gencarelli added that the new space will take place "near our tower and we are building it for the first time, we usually don't embark on these projects, a new space made of wood, glass and transparencies where we can welcome our colleagues, for events and conferences, the city for events linked to the city and in this respect Milan is very rich in widespread events, and customers and companies”.

Finally, concluded Gencarelli, Unicredit Pavilion “is meant to be an open space that is used by different groups at the same time. It wants to be something different than simply the company auditorium or the space that the company uses for itself. In all of this there is a kindergarten, which we are opening to the city, it is our kindergarten and one for everyone, we liked to include it, as if to seal our desire to work on the future”.
