Napolitano: "Sacrifices even for the less well-off"

In a message to Telethon, the Head of State speaks of the "major risks" that Italian finance and the economy are called to face - those taken by the government are "essential choices in order to preserve the development of our economy and our society in a climate of freedom and greater justice".

Napolitano: "Sacrifices even for the less well-off"

“Italy has to face great risks for its finances, for its economy. You have to be able to play your part well for Europe and for yourself, and so you ask sacrifices to Italians from all walks of life, even to Italians from the less well-off, so that the indispensable choices are made in order to preserve the development of our economy and of our society in a climate of freedom and greater justice". These are the words of the President of the Republic, Giorgio Napolitano, in a video message sent to Telethon on the occasion of the TV marathon to raise funds for research into genetic diseases.

"But even if Italian families are at this moment gripped by anxiety about the contribution they are called to make to the country's collective effort - added the Head of State -, certainly their sensitivity and solidarity will still find a way to manifest itself through the participation in the Rai-Telethon marathon”.
