Napolitano: “Italicum, don't go back. But liquidating Mattarellum was a mistake”

The former President of the Republic sides with Prime Minister Renzi, even if he recalls how wrong it was, according to him, to "hastily liquidate the Mattarellum", an electoral law "which worked excellently".

Napolitano: “Italicum, don't go back. But liquidating Mattarellum was a mistake”

Giorgio Napolitano he sides with Prime Minister Matteo Renzi and the Italicum. The former Head of State, who at the time of his two mandates was a proud supporter of the need for reforms in our country, was in fact questioned by journalists on the sidelines of a meeting in Montecitorio, from which he issued a "warning" a few days before the start of the decisive discussion on the Italicum: “There is no going back, undoing what has been painstakingly built, elaborated, discussed in recent months. Woe to you if you fall into a "let's start over".

Napolitano, retracing the recent republican history in terms of electoral law, also recalled how much it was incorrect "hastily liquidate the Mattarellum", an electoral law “that worked excellently". A stance taken by Napolitano which will not fail to arouse a reaction, but which is nothing new with respect to the attitude taken by Napolitano in recent months at the Quirinale.
