If the NO front prevails in the forthcoming October referendum on the reform of the Constitution, for Italy it would be the definitive farewell to reforms. This is openly supported by the President Emeritus of the Republic, Giorgio Napolitano, with an extensive interview in the "Corriere della Sera".
Napolitano argues that it is wrong to personalize the referendum as if it were a vote for or against Prime Minister Renzi, but he has no doubts about the merits of the issues at stake: the reform of the Constitution and the Senate is a step forward and must also be defended in the October consultation . Otherwise, the government would fail and above all the reform policy would fail, forcing the country to remain in the swamp.
