Napolitano calls for reforms, Government broken down again: the Bank of Italy node but not only

Berlusconi, after the push and pull of the Rai method, announces today the indication for the Governor of Bank of Italy. The President of the Republic says he is "distressed" by the lack of cohesion. And the premier speaks of a difficult situation due to lack of funds while talking about pardons and report cards and no longer paper bus tickets to save money

Napolitano calls for reforms, Government broken down again: the Bank of Italy node but not only

Yesterday's ceremony at the Quirinale for the knights of work gave a good picture of the situation in which the government finds itself, a few days after gaining yet another confidence in Parliament. On one side the President of the Republic, Giorgio Napolitano who does not hesitate to declare himself "distressed" by the lack of cohesion between the political forces and calls for those "imperative" structural reforms for growth, which international bodies are asking of us. On the other, Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, now attested in saying that there is no money, that there are still problems and that in the end we will invent something. All while he announces that the crux of the indication of the Governor of the Bank of Italy.

And unfortunately also for this very delicate choice, which falls within the exclusive competence (at a political level) of the Prime Minister, it seems that the Rai method (parcel-division and majority agreements) will prevail over a rigorous protection of institutional processes (absolute respect for the Bank's autonomy of Italy).

And so, next to the name of the current general manager Saccomanni, the candidate of Tremonti and Bossi, Grilli, and the third man Bini Smaghi are still in the running. With the latter, which would also solve the problems of the prime minister's relationship with the French president, with whom he has undertaken to free up Italy's second place on the board of the ECB. Two other names within the Bank would also be in the running: Ignazio Visco, and Anna Maria Tarantola. As seen the evocation of the Rai method is anything but strange.

As for the "urging structural reforms for growth", requested by the head of state, even here we are on the high seas. Stop at Berlusconi's "we'll invent something". And according to the rumors circulating we are really far from structural reforms. Considering that we're talking about school report cards and no-paper bus tickets that would save the State money, silent approval for building permits, and, of course, the usual amnesties. But the government and the prime minister are also in difficulty in terms of ad personam laws. And so after the provision on wiretapping has been set aside (at least for the moment), the same sort seems to be reserved for the one that should introduce the prescription. Confirming the fact that the Government is increasingly in "breakdown".
