Napolitano: "No more favors and recommendations"

Italy "must become a country open to young people as quickly as possible, it must offer opportunities not tainted by favoritism and create transparent recruitment systems for work", which disprove "the belief that recommendations serve more than personal commitment". This is the appeal launched today by the President of the Republic, Giorgio Napolitano.

According to the Head of State, it is necessary to "dismantle the belief that opportunities are reserved for certain environments". Placing "recognition of merit at the center of policies is necessary, it does not only mean proposing equity, it means growth". It is necessary to give young people "opportunities not spoiled by favouritism".
