Napolitano: "Beware of unfounded news". And on the Mps case "clarity needs to be done"

“Look, I want to say that within the framework offered by the hearing in Parliament, the need for clarity strongly felt by public opinion and in particular by savers can be satisfied, in full respect of the various political positions. But we must be guided at all times by that awareness of the national interest”. This was stated by the President of the Republic, Giorgio Napolitano, in an interview with Roberto Napoletano, director of Il Sole 24 Ore, published on the newspaper's website.

According to the President, Nakitalia was vigilant in the matter. "He has exercised from the beginning - he said - with the traditional rigor the supervisory functions within the limits of his legal powers".

He added: "The total autonomy of the judiciary in conducting investigations into the previous management of MPS, as already clarified in the note issued yesterday by the Public Prosecutor of Siena, must also be respected by avoiding the dissemination of unfounded news which was deplored this morning by the same Prosecutor for its destabilizing effects on the market”.
