Naples, the head of the mobile investigated and a room seized from Fabio Cannavaro

For the Campania capital, the bad news never ends. While the garbage emergency continues and the government splits over the waste decree, the head of the Naples mobile is under investigation for aiding and abetting people linked to Camorra clans. The investigation also led to the seizure of a club owned by Fabio Cannavaro

The bad news for Naples seems to never end. The capital of Campania, already grappling with the waste emergency, was today the scene of a maxi-operation by Dia against alleged front names of the Lo Russo bosses. Two excellent names appear in the documents of the investigation: that of the head of the Naples mobile squad, Vittorio Pisani, under investigation for aiding and abetting, and that of the footballer Fabio Cannavaro, from whom shares in a company were seized. The former footballer is not currently being investigated but, according to the investigators, he acted as a figurehead for the entrepreneur Marco Iorio, linked to Mario Potenza's group, close to the Camorra clans. "I met Marco Iorio six or seven years ago and after about a couple of years I entered into a partnership with him in the Regina Margherita restaurant, buying 10 percent of the shares in the company", explained the former national team captain who also stressed that he did not know the other shareholders of Iorio's company.

The situation of Vittorio Pisani is decidedly more critical. The head of the mobile is under investigation for aiding and abetting the owners of a restaurant and is the recipient of the residence ban measure in Naples. According to Sergio Amato, the prosecutor in charge of the file, Pisani would have communicated confidential information on some ongoing investigations to the entrepreneur Marco Iorio. "Dr. Vittorio Pisani, linked by solid and proven friendships with Marco Iorio and in relations with Salvatore Lo Russo, his confidant, would not have hesitated to reveal to them the start of the investigation by this office, informing him at the same time of the content of some service annotations drawn up by his own office”, highlights a press release signed by the prosecutor of Naples Giandomenico Lepore and by the deputy Alessandro Pennasilico.

Meanwhile in Naples the waste crisis shows no sign of abating and protests continue. Throughout the Neapolitan province the situation is still very serious and dramatic events and stories follow one another. Today, in Giugliano, a woman found herself literally walled up in her house by a mountain of waste, over two meters high, which prevented her from going out for hours. The bobcats had to intervene to free her. And the garbage problem is also having a profound effect on the political framework. In the afternoon, the government split over the waste decree: the council of ministers approved the decree only with the votes of the PDL, while the Northern League expressed their opposition. An incandescent summer is expected for Naples.
