Naples, New Year's Eve 2019: fireworks and diving into the water

After Milan and Florence, here is a short selection of Neapolitan events between Christmas and New Year's Eve. On New Year's Eve there will be parties until dawn with fireworks and concerts. Also planned are a number of art exhibits and captivating theater performances.

After the calendar of events a Milano e Florence, here is Naples. Naples is one of the most festive Italian cities, which is why it is also the place with the most extravagant events. Like every year, the New Year's concert will be held at Piazza del Plebiscito. The dance star Amii Stewart will take the stage, flanked by the orchestra directed by Gerardo Di Lella, but in addition to the dance star, Franco Ricciardi, Andrea Sannino, Rocco Hunt, Ivan Granatino and many other guests will also take the stage. TO Castel dell'Ovo the new year will be greeted with a fireworks display. Between via Caracciolo and via Partenope 5 stages will be set up to welcome artists, emerging bands and open-air discos. Furthermore, at the round Diaz there will be the traditional appointment with the daredevils who will dive into the waters of the Gulf. Here is a selection of the most interesting events in our opinion.

Trade shows:

  • Basilica of the Holy Spirit from 20 October 2018 to 3 February 2019: multimedia exhibition "Klimt Experience". It's a dreamlike journey. Thanks to the expressive power of the narration through images and sounds, created by the director Stefano Fake, the summa of Klimt's art comes to life in the central nave of the Basilica of the Holy Spirit, evoked by the works selected by the art historian Sergio Risaliti.
  • Castel dell'Ovo from 28 October 2018 to 24 March 2019: "I De Filippo - The trade on stage". Eduardo, Vincenzo and Mario Scarpetta and Eduardo, Titina, Peppino, Luigi and Luca De Filippo were playwrights, actors and directors who spanned the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries symbolizing the art of local comedy, the voices of war, of rebirth, of superstition, of unveiled prejudice, of the art of getting by, of cunning, of mercy.
  • PAN - Palace of the Arts of Naples from 1 November 2018 to 22 April 2019: “The visionary genius of Escher”. In addition to the visionary's works, the exhibition will also present a large section dedicated to the influence that his work and his creations exerted on subsequent generations, from records to comics, from advertising to cinema: a journey of 200 works starting from Escher to get to the present day.
  • Palatine Chapel of the Maschio Angioino from 19 October 2018 to 17 February 2019: “Futurism in the 10s – 20s”. In literary and pictorial futurism, awareness of the changes brought about by modernity to life and the perception of man took place according to three new and recurring creative dimensions: symbiosis with technology, with raw material and with consumer products. The exhibition reconstructs the development of these themes from the 10s to the 20s by adopting both an iconographic and formal approach, within the more general lines of the history of the avant-garde.
  • Galleries of Italy - Palazzo Zevallos Stigliano from 18 October 2018 to 20 January 2019: “London Shadow”. It will be an exhibition dedicated to the English revolution from Gilbert & George to Damien Hirst. London Shadow summarizes tensions, ambiguities, annuities and contaminations of English culture of the last decades, up to today. Also at Palazzo Zevallos Stigliano, from 6 December 2018 to 7 April 2019: ” Rubens, Van Dyck, Ribera. A Prince's Collection. The exhibition shows a prestigious collection that belonged to the Vandeneynden family who lived in the sumptuous residence in Via Toledo.
  • Convent of San Domenico Maggiore from 6 December 2018 to 6 January 2019: “Do you like 'o Presepio?”. The exhibition will be dedicated to the ancient "rediscovered shepherds", the subject of a maxi seizure carried out by the cultural heritage protection unit of the Carabinieri of Naples and also to ten scenes of ancient crafts from the Rogiosi Collection and the Nativity from the Alemi Collection.
  • San Severo al Pendino from 23 November 218 to 6 January 2019: "Exhibition of Presepial Art". The Italian Association of Friends of the Crib brings together crib enthusiasts from all over Italy.
  • National Archaeological Museum of Naples from 5 October 2018 to 6 January 2019: “P_Reesistenze”. The exhibition will retrace, through twenty-eight shots, the charm of a harsh and beautiful Calabria, an evocative scenario that will be configured, at the same time, as the place of origin and landing point of the photographer Pino Codispoti.
  • Crypt of the Vincentian Monumental Complex from 1 December 2018 to 30 June 2019: "Leonardo da Vinci, the genius of the Rione Sanità", an interactive exhibition on the life, machines and works of Leonardo da Vinci, for the five hundredth anniversary of the death of the Renaissance genius.

 

 Theater:

  • Augustan theater, from 21 December 2018 to 6 January 2019: "Colpo di scena" with Carlo Buccirosso. In a provincial police station, Deputy Quaestor Armando Piscitelli has always conducted his work with the faith of a missionary sent from heaven and alongside him the faithful squires who will eradicate everyday barbarism.
  • Teatro Bellini, from December 26, 2018 to January 6, 2019: “Viva Momix Forever” by Mose Pendleton. It is an overwhelming show in which the dancers dance with the support of lighting techniques, optical illusions and phosphorescent fabrics that transform them into dreamlike creatures resembling trees and animals.
  • Little Bellini Theatre, from 26 December 2018 to 6 January 2019: "The sky in a room", Punta Corsara show. Heaven entered due to the collapse of the ceiling of an actual room of a Neapolitan building built during the real estate boom of the 50s. In this room that now "has no more walls", we meet a community of characters who come to terms with their past and try to find a way to archive it and start dreaming of a future again.
  • Bracco Theatre, from 25 December 2018 to 6 January 2019: "All together". The phantom goodness of Gigi and Ross will be put to the test by the incursions of Alessandro Bolide, Ivan and Cristiano, Tony Figo.
  • Cilea Theater, from 25 December 2018 to 13 January 2019: “Sal Da Vinci”. On board a ship populated by travelers heading from Naples to New York, Sal Da Vinci immerses us in a world of memories of a past that has allowed the new generations to be who they are today.
  • Teatro Diana, from 18 December 2018 to 6 January 2019: "Così parlò Bellavista" with G. Gleijeses, M. Laurito, B. Casillo. Great choral fresco on "men of love" and "men of freedom", the show will tend to re-propose the most exhilarating scenes from the film such as "the red horse", "the dishwasher", "the Banco Lotto", "the 500 plastered with newspapers” and, of course, the contrast between Professor Bellavista and the director of Alfasud Cazzaniga.
  • Trianon Viviani Theater, from 20 December 2018 to 6 January 2019: "Lacreme napulitane" directed by Nino D'Angelo. It is a genre of popular representation, which alternates singing with acting and dramatic melologue, born and developed in Naples between the 20s and 40s. The spectator enters a familiar environment of values ​​and traditions that have never been lost. Betrayal, understood more as a breach of values, will upset the lives of the family members.
