No to forced labor China and its unfair competition to Italian producers of tomato and yes to higher wages. With an interview with Financial Times and another at Corriere della Sera Francesco Mutti, the king of Italian tomatoes and President of Centermark, he said what entrepreneurs rarely say. He said clearly and roundly what the Minister of Agriculture, Francesco Lollobrigida does not say, namely that Chinese competition in tomato production based on forced labor is unacceptable and that therefore Europe should decide to block tomato imports from Xinjiang. How can one not agree with Mutti? But the king of Italian tomatoes said even more to Corriere della Sera where he argued, without mincing words, that real Italian wages must be raised because otherwise it becomes impossible to attract talent and prevent the emigration of the best Italian workforce. It is not by keeping wages low that Italy can win the competitive challenge but, on the contrary, by focusing on productivity, on innovation and on legality. Well done Mutti, if all entrepreneurs spoke like this, it would be a different Italy.

No to unfair competition from China based on forced labor and yes to higher wages in Italy. Francesco Mutti, king of tomatoes and President of Centromarca, has courageous and innovative ideas and is not afraid to speak out
