Musja: the new private museum in Rome

The new Musya Museum located in the streets of central Rome, will dedicate its space tocontemporary art. The private museum will be chaired by Ovid Jacorossi, thanks to the large collection of works from the first Twentieth century Italian to today, which will be joined in the course of the activities to the most innovative contemporary trends on the international scene.

“With the birth of Musja, we are donating a new museum to the city of Rome and to the whole country, making available to the community an art collection that represents the result of a long human and entrepreneurial history. In our activity we have always considered the value of the person as central and recognized the importance of creativity in the development of the potential of each individual and of each public and private body. With this new reality we intend to offer a tangible contribution to the cultural exchange and promotion of the society of which we are all a part" he declared Ovid Jacorossi, President of Musja.

The project The dark side, Edited by Danilo Eccher, is organized in three exhibition moments, distributed over the span of three years and dedicated to: "Fear of the Dark", "Fear of Loneliness" and "Fear of Time". The first show “Who is afraid of the dark?” which will be inaugurated on8 October, will involve thirteen of the most important international artists including Gregor Schneider, Sheela Gowda and Gino de Dominicis. In addition, a group performance will take place on a monthly basis “Female Differential” composed of four Roman actresses.

Most of the works were produced on purpose for the exhibition while some are from institutions, galleries, as well as from the Jacorossi collection. The public will be able to experience firsthand and analyze their own reactions faced with sensory experiences, theatrical and magical visions, rituals and settings, anxieties that take unexpected forms and then dissolve.

The Dark Side represents the "dark side" that is in each of us, the stumbles of life which impose a break, but at the same time create new perspectives. It is about accessing a dark and obscure dimension that one tries to avoid, but which instead demands one brave look. Fear must be tamed and made a participant and friend of one's human adventure.

The Dark Side wants to be a project on the dark side of things, on the unsaid part of thought, on secrets of our soul, but also on the curiosity of this challenge, on the courage in going through the dark, on the need to overcome all fear.

Il catalog that accompanies the exhibition is a volume rich in images of all the artists present and contributions: in addition to the text by Danilo Eccher, also some glimpses of the dark theme conceived by the theologian Gianfranco Ravasi, by the physicist-theorist Mario Rasetti, by the psychiatrist Eugenio Borgna and by the philosopher Federico Vercellone.
