MuseoCity 2019, Milan becomes an open-air museum

Nature is the theme chosen this year for Milan MuseoCity 2019: guided tours, workshops, extraordinary openings, conferences, special initiatives will all be organized following this common thread, which is part of a broader and more profound investigation of the relationship between man and the natural environment that surrounds it, already at the center of a series of cultural initiatives in the city, from celebrations for the XNUMXth anniversary of the death of Leonardo da Vinci at the XXII Triennale di Milano.

“If five years ago they had asked me for the number of Milanese museums”, explained the Councilor for Culture, Filippo Del Corno to Elle Decor Italia, “I would probably have said a greatly underestimated number. Milan is a real archipelago of exhibition centers and this widespread event turns the spotlight on all the stars of this galaxy who will develop ad hoc initiatives for the occasion”: Milanese courtyards will be transformed into galleries, apartments into museums and the doors of over 80 sites will be opened, including art museums, historical exhibition centres, scientific museums and artists' homes.

There are hundreds of appointments on the calendar for the three days in Milan: for example, theSecret Museum itinerary, curated by Gemma Sena Chiesa and the MuseoCity Association, and dedicated this year to Nature, Art, Museums, the conversation Nature in ancient, modern and contemporary art scheduled for Friday 1 March 2019 in the Conference Room of Palazzo Reale at 16.00 and organized by the MuseoCity Association; the exhibition Geo Poletti's Still Lifes. A Milanese Collection, curated by the MuseoCity Association, Paolo Biscottini and Annalisa Zanni, which can be visited from 1 March to 24 March 2019 at Palazzo Reale in the Apartment of the Princes.

To promote the concept of Milan as an open-air museum, combining culture, green mobility and social inclusion, the initiative was promoted TramTram, a full day of "special guided tours" for ATM public transport users, organized by Dodecaedro Urbano – Urbanfile, who on Saturday 1st March will be able to visit the city on four thematic itineraries and on board the scheduled trams.

Il Maua – Museum of Augmented Urban Art has organized a guided tour through some street art works in the areas behind the Central Station, the Leoncavallo and via Padova. The appointment is scheduled for Sunday 3 March 2019 at 10.00 with the meeting point at the M3 Sondrio station.

Another event that colors the city is the garden of Milanese stories, the circuit that unites sixteen house museums, artist's ateliers, architects' and designers' studios, in an unpublished story on the discovery of Milan curated by Rosanna Pavoni, scheduled for Saturday 2 March 2019.

Finally, a walk among the flowers in six museums in Milan, divided into guided tours of six Milanese museums to discover secrets, curiosities and botanical characteristics hidden in the works of their collections, curated by Orticola di Lombardia.
