Mucchetti (Pd) to Confindustria: "It's time to privatize Il Sole"

"The Confindustria publisher has turned out to be perhaps the worst in the last 15 years" for the way it provoked and managed the crisis of "Il Sole 24 Ore": the harsh comment is from the president of the Industry Commission of the Senate, Massimo Mucchetti who asks the entrepreneurs if the time has not come to sell their newspaper to those who could manage it better

“The Confindustria publisher has turned out to be perhaps the worst in the last 15 years. But not a word from Boccia, neither on the past nor on the solutions that we are now trying to pursue". This was written by Massimo Mucchetti, Pd president of the Senate industry commission, commenting on the words of the President of Confindustria, Vincenzo Boccia, on the sidelines of the Confindustria Assembly.

“Isn't it time to privatize Il Sole 24 Ore? There are opportunities, far from the circles of power but strong and clean, capable of launching the newspaper into the big data business, of making mergers and acquisitions - continues Mucchetti - But they are not pursued to maintain an instrument of pressure on the government while remaining, moreover, under the heel of the lending banks. And this is a bad thing, because such a conservative approach tends to downgrade a major newspaper to the level of a propaganda sheet and at the same time, given the political weakness of Confindustria itself, reduces it to an instrument of non-incisive propaganda. How long will the often courageous commitment of the editorial staff be able to sustain?”.
