The stock takes off on the Stock Exchange Ps. After a start in the red, in the afternoon the shares of the Sienese bank managed to gain 5%, to 1,805 euros, to then fall back slightly up to +3,5%, in any case one of the best increases in the Ftse Mib.
The wave of purchases on Montepaschi was triggered, in addition to the success of the three billion capital increase operations and the consequent total repayment of the Monti bonds, was the return of rumors about a possible and imminent merger with another bank.
Today the same president Alessandro Profumo - who yesterday reiterated his intention to submit his resignation shortly – announced, during a debate organized by Uilca, that the institute intends to accelerate on the aggregation front.
“To date there is nothing on the horizon – said Profumo -, but now, with the capital increase closed, we can move more pro-actively on this front”.
