Mps: red from 3,38 billion in 2016

Sienese bank returns to red after loan adjustments - After its entry into function of the recapitalization, the Treasury will have 66% of the capital

Monte dei Paschi returned to a loss in 2016, as widely expected, and recorded a loss of approximately 3,38 billion. The result includes 2,59 billion of loan adjustments for the update of the assessments on non-performing loans. Mps had closed 2015 with a profit of 388 million only due to the restatement of the Alexandria operation.

The preliminary data for 2016 were approved by the board chaired by Alessandro Falciai. The bank closes 2016 with a gross operating result of 1,63 billion which compares with that of 2,58 billion in 2015. In the fourth quarter the operating result was positive for 147 million.

Following the recapitalization, the Treasury, according to a report by Equita Sim, will have 66% of the capital.
