Mps, Profumo: "No to new governance"

“Usually those who manage a bank do not take care of their shareholders. The Foundation has made a choice of stability, because there is a lock-up, then let's see the pact because I believe this is a signal of the bank's accompanying will”. Thus the president of Mps, Alessandro Profumo, on the pact signed between the two new South American partners of the Tuscan institute and the Foundation.

When asked whether this pact could positively change the bank's governance, the banker replied – speaking on the sidelines of the 'Ambrosetti workshop' – that “I totally disagree with this. In the last two years this bank has changed the way it works a lot. We have also changed the statute twice and today I can assure you that Monte Paschi is a 'best practice' in terms of governance quality”.
