Mps, the Foundation sells another 3% and drops to 12% of the capital

La Fondazione Mps has sold a further 3% stake in Banca Montepaschithus going down to 12%. The sale took place between 19 and 24 March in three transactions on a total of approximately 358,5 million shares, for a total value of approximately 85,7 million euro. 

In particular, according to the internal dealing of Borsa Italiana, on 19 March the Foundation sold 170 million shares at a unit price of approximately 0,24 euro and on 20 March another 86 million shares changed hands at approximately 0,23 euros each. Finally, on 24 March, 102,5 million shares were sold at around 0,23 euro each.

Yesterday Consob and Guardia di Finanza officials carried out an inspection at the headquarters of the Foundation in Siena. 

Last week the Sienese institution had dropped to 15% in the capital of Banca Mps. After the stock rally, the Foundation had sold, on closed markets, 12% of the institute's shares (1,4 billion shares for 335 million euros), with the aim of paying off the debt of 340 million owed of the pool of banks which had enabled it to participate in the Bank's capital increase in the summer of 2011.

Today, one hour after the opening, the Mps share on the Stock Exchange gains 0,84%, in contrast with the Ftse Mib, which in the same minutes travels in the red by 0,38%.
