The president of Banca Monte dei Paschi, Alessandro Profumo, and the vice president, Marco Turchi, had declared that they met the independence requirements before the shareholders' meeting on 27 April, but the Tuscan bank's board of directors established that they can no longer be considered such.

Profumo and the Turks, writes the board of Rocca Salimbeni, "they had declared that they met the independence requirements" before the shareholders' meeting of April 27, "but the board, during the verification, declared them not independent, as members of the executive committee appointed by the board with resolution of May 3, 2012". The independence requirements established by the TUF for the directors Michele Briamonte, Pietro Giovanni Corsa, Paola Demartini, Angelo Dringoli and Tania Groppi have been verified.
