Mps, Gip Siena says no to Nomura kidnapping: "Lack of urgency requirements"

The investigating judge of the Siena court has rejected the emergency decree of the seizure for Banca Nomura and Sadeq Sayeed, as well as for Giuseppe Mussari and Antonio Vigni. The prosecutors had asked for the seizure of around two billion euros for Nomura. According to reports from Ansa, the investigating judge Ugo Bellini did not meet the requirements for the emergency decree signed by the prosecutors responsible for the investigation into Monte dei Paschi, a decree which also affected Gianluca Baldassarri and Raffaele Ricci, former representative in Italy by Nomura. However, it will be necessary to wait for the reasons to understand why the judge rejected the seizure order.

On 16 April, the Guardia di Finanza carried out a maxi emergency seizure of 1,8 billion euros: 88 million consist of "hidden commissions received by Nomura" and 1,7 billion euros deposited by MPS in favor of Nomura as a guarantee on the loan received from Monte. All existing contracts between MPS and the Japanese bank relating to the restructuring of the Alexandria contract were also seized. The facts under investigation, in fact, relate to the restructuring of the vehicle and the financing by Nomura in favor of Mps for the purchase of Italian BTPs for 3,05 billion. Yesterday, Nomura, in a note specified that he believes that "the collateral requested in this case is commensurate with the size and duration of the transaction".
