Mps says goodbye to the 4% ceiling and the stock soars on the stock exchange

Farewell to 4% ceiling for the shares that shareholders other than the MPS Foundation may have in the capital of the Sienese Bank. Yesterday afternoon, the Foundation itself decided that at the assembly of the institute scheduled for Thursday 18 it will vote in favor of the cancellation of the provision from the statute. AND the markets appreciated: about an hour after the start of trading, the Mps share gained more than four points, in contrast with the trend of the Ftse Mib, which lost about half a point in the same minutes. The one achieved by Montepaschi, at the moment, is the most consistent rise in the Milanese price list.

The 4% ceiling was a limit that the Treasury had represented as one of the commitments necessary to obtain the green light from Brussels for four billion in state aid (the "Monti bonds"), the examination of which has not yet been concluded. Furthermore, with the elimination of the constraint, thecapital increase of one billion euro already approved. The operation is reserved for new partners, which according to the president Alessandro Profumo and the managing director Fabrizio Viola would have no interest in entering, knowing that they cannot go beyond 4% of the capital.
