“The Foundation will have to play an aggregating role by probing possible alliances in the pact also with other important shareholders of Monte dei Paschi Banca such as the Axa insurance company. I have already met with the representatives of Big Pactual and Fintech during the Palio of August 16, verifying convergence of interests in the medium term even after the deadline. The goal is to give stability to the bank”. This was stated by the president of the Mps Foundation, Marcello Clarich, interviewed by the newspaper Il Piccolo of Trieste, the city where the professor lived for a long time.
Clarich also intervened on the entry of the Big Pactual and Fintec funds into the Mps board of directors, as foreseen in the agreement with the Foundation: “it is a delicate dossier. We cannot force anyone to resign to make room for the members of the pact but it is clear that he would have the gratitude of all Sienese institutions. It would be a step backwards in the general interest. I hope some positive news before the next September 11 board meeting”.
