Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena has finalized a 15 million euro Esg financing transaction with Siena Ambiente Spa, a company that operates in the integrated waste cycle by managing the selection, valorisation, composting and recovery of energy from waste plants. The operation, with amortization over 12 years, is assisted by the green guarantee of Sace within the framework of the "Green New Deal" Convention, for the support sustainable transition and to green investments of companies.
The loan will support the Sienese company in the renovation of the Cortine plant complex (Asciano locality) with the aim of obtaining important environmental and production benefits in terms of recovery of materials and energy. In particular, the proposed revamping interventions foresee the adoption of the best technologies available today thanks to which the quantities of materials sent for recycling will be increased in compliance with the European Union directives on the subject of circular economy.
Among the most important changes is the creation of a new section of anaerobic digestion and the production, from renewable sources, of biomethane to be introduced into the network. This new section, set up in a closed environment, has "a high environmental value since thanks to it it is possible to obtain a greater recovery of material and an improvement in the effectiveness of process control and its climate-altering and odorous emissions", reads in a bank note.
In support of the financial institution, the investees Mps Capital Services and Monte Paschi Fiduciaria will also intervene in the operation to cover all the company's needs linked to the specific nature of this operation.
