Mps, Antonveneta: Guardia di Finanza at the JP Morgan headquarters in Milan

The men of the currency unit of the financial police went to the Milan headquarters of JP Morgan in Milan on Thursday morning, as part of the investigations into the acquisition of Antonveneta by Monte dei Paschi di Siena.

According to what is learned, the financiers would have in hand an order for the presentation of the documents relating to the acquisition of Antonveneta. The request was signed by the Sienese prosecutors in charge of the investigation. The Milan office of JP Morgan had been one of the banks raided on 9 May 2012 when the blitz of financiers took place, who went to the MPS office in Siena, to that of the Foundation, to the Municipality and Province of Siena and to a dozen banks in various Italian cities.

The investigation by the prosecutors of Siena concerns the acquisition by MPS bank of Antonveneta in 2008 for over 10 billion euros. Acquisition that was also financed through the issue of a Fresh bond, now the subject of the dispute against the former management team of the Sienese bank by the prosecutor. According to the indictment, that product was not actually to be considered as capital because there were agreements, not represented in Bank of Italy, which changed its nature by making it configured as a debt rather than as additional capital useful for making the acquisition.

Two days ago the Guardia di Finanza and the magistrates of Siena who are investigating the case also went to the headquarters of the Bank of Italy which has been collaborating in the ongoing investigation for over a year.
