Movimprese: balance of +26 thousand production units between April and June (+0,4%)

According to the quarterly Movimprese survey conducted by InfoCamere, this is the least brilliant result for 10 years now. Positive balance sheet for all sectors except agriculture. The result discounts bankruptcies, up 5,9% from January, +72,5% for compositions.

Movimprese: balance of +26 thousand production units between April and June (+0,4%)

The business system is advancing, but it is decidedly short of breath. In the second quarter of the year, the balance between business openings and closures marks a positive balance, with 26.084 more units. However, it is the least brilliant result in the series of the last ten years of surveys, with reference to the April-June period.

The data is contained in Movimprese - the quarterly survey on the birth and death rate of companies conducted by InfoCamere - released today by Unioncamere during the conference "Programming 2014-2020: A new dialogue for a shared cohesion policy", held in Rome in the presence by the Minister for Territorial Cohesion, Carlo Trigilia.

The low number of enrollments (100.448, the second worst result of the decade) and the high level of terminations (74.364, the third highest value in the series of the second quarters) contributed to such a concise result.
Overall – excluding agriculture which closed the quarter with 5.195 fewer units – all sectors show a positive balance between openings and closures.
However, the crisis caused a substantial stalemate (-113 units) between registrations and terminations of craft companies, mainly due to the sharp reduction in the opening of new businesses, rather than an increase in closures. The negative balances of the sectors: construction (-828 companies), transport and warehousing (-568) and manufacturing activities (-506) had the greatest impact on the trend of the artisan sector.

For company crises, the data relating to the first six months of 2013 certifies a 5,9% increase in the opening of bankruptcy proceedings (corresponding to 6.456 companies that brought their books to court) compared to the same period of 2012, with a +72,5% in composition procedures.

“The country will relaunch itself if we manage to relaunch businesses – said the President of Unioncamere, Ferruccio Dardanello, commenting on the data – because it is only from businesses that jobs come. We need a strong injection of trust and resources. Six months after the end of the 2007-2013 cycle, we are faced with the challenge of speeding up spending to use the almost 30 billion euro of available resources. The Chambers of Commerce are ready to give their contribution, both to identify priority projects for businesses and to co-finance them. And we want to do even more in view of the 2014-2020 resource cycle. A few weeks ago, in fact, Unioncamere launched a "national control room" entirely financed by the Chamber system to support the local Chambers in the negotiation phase with the territorial institutions for the preparation of the measures for the next programming".
