Moto GP, Lorenzo admits: "The Spaniards helped me"

The new world champion does not deny having been favored by those who in theory should have been his opponents: "The title also belongs to Spain" – Marquez justifies himself for not having attacked his compatriot – Rossi: "It's embarrassing, our sport has made a very bad impression".

Moto GP, Lorenzo admits: "The Spaniards helped me"

“Marc and Dani were very good at not bothering me and keeping the World Cup in Spain. They respected me, because I was playing for the championship. It's my title, but also that of Spain”. These are Jorge Lorenzo's admissions after yesterday's conquest of the seventh grand prix of the season and with it the fifth world title of his career. A title also due to the collaboration of the Spaniards Pedrosa and above all Marquez, who in the second part of the Moto GP championship opposed Rossi without ever putting his compatriot in difficulty (who in theory should have been his opponent in the same way, given that they race for stables different: Honda and Yamaha).

In fact, Marquez feels the need to justify his failure to attack Lorenzo: “At the beginning, Jorge pushed very hard – he said -, I struggled to keep up with him. In the end, I got close and had in mind to attack him, but Dani arrived and passed me and made me waste time".

Rossi's reply is dry: “Everyone saw their plan today. This makes me sad and it's a very bad figure for our whole sport. I hope this behavior turns against him over time. Lorenzo is very good it would have been nice to fight on equal terms and I don't think he can be happy with having won like this either. It seems sad to me that Marquez is Lorenzo's bodyguard. It was a biscuit and I kind of expected it. Jorge was good but up to Motegi I had an 18-point lead. Something happened from Phillip Island that nobody expected, Marquez was embarrassing, it was a very bad thing for our sport. And from there everything changed because I had to fight against two riders, who were also very fast".
