Exhibitions, the Italian twentieth century told by 630 works in Piedmont

The art triangle this time has its vertices in Turin, Biella and Vercelli. Until February 10, seven exhibition venues in the Piedmont area will host 630 works, all unpublished. The title of the exhibition is 100% Italy. Masterpieces of the twentieth century and recounts a century of authentic Italian art through the masterpieces of international artists from museum collections and archives, foundations, collectors, public and private galleries.

The exhibition embraces one hundred years of Italian art history between two centuries, between 1915 and 2015: the Futurists who wanted to "burn the museums and libraries" intertwine in the exhibition with the present of Islamic terrorism that bombed Nineveh and destroyed the archaeological remains of Mosul and Palmyra.

A Turin the Ettore Fico Museum presents the paths Novecento, Corrente, Abstraction, Informal, while al MEF Outside the one on Pop Art, with billboard advertising, magazine news, movie posters, television commercials.

Optical, Minimalism, Arte Povera, Analytical, Conceptual Painting are the protagonist spaces at the Keep of the Citadel still in Turin, while a Barolo Palace Transavantgarde by Achille Bonito Oliva, New Figuration and Internationality will be presented.

All the itineraries are curated by art critics and historians, from Luca Beatrice to Lorenzo Canova, from Marco Meneguzzo to Elena Pontiggia, from Claudio Cerritelli to Giorgio Verzotti.

Therefore, if in the Savoyard capital among the most significant works are those by Burri, Bice Lazzari, Carla Accardi, Franco Garelli, Gillo Dorfles, Lucio Fontana, Pinot Gallizio, Mario Sironi, traveling up to Biella, in the fourteenth century Gromo Losa Palace and Territory Museum you can admire two futurist sections: Futurism and Second Futurism, with works from Carlo Carrà to Giacomo Balla and Fortunato Depero.

Metaphysics, Magical Realism, Neo Metaphysics are instead the exhibition spaces dedicated to the city of Vercelli – in the modern glass and steel structure, headquarters of Ark, located in the central nave of the former church of San Marco – where the masterpieces of Severini, De Chirico, Mario Tozzi are presented.

The exhibition is accompanied by a catalog of "4 kilos and 200 grams of culture" which Andrea Busto, creator of the project, has personally supervised and together with the works presented, it is proposed as a guiding text for understanding Italian history, its present and its future.

The main artistic movements that follow one another throughout the exhibition underline the role of art in civil society and are intertwined with history, to explain the war, the defeat, pettiness, economic growth, fear, inspiration, the highest moments and the lowest ones in the history of the Italian twentieth century. This is the contribution that art makes to the historical evolution of a country. Every year and every decade have been marked by strong personalities who have influenced the art of the "short century" and beyond; in fact, no European nation has been able to offer artists and masterpieces, schools and movements, artistic manifestos and proclamations with the continuity of Italy, as stated in the official press release of the MEF of Turin.
