The Chamber approved by secret ballot the request for authorization to arrest Forza Italia deputy Giancarlo Galan, who was given a custody warrant in the framework of the Venice prosecutor's investigation into the Mose. There were 395 votes in favour, 138 against and two abstentions.
During the explanations of vote they had expressed themselves in favor of the arrest of Galan Pd, M5S, Lega, Civic Choice, Sel, Led and Per l'Italia. On the other hand, Forza Italia, Ncd, Maie and Psi are against.
The investigation, which led to the arrest of 35 people, concerns the alleged establishment of black funds to finance political parties and exponents and to bribe public officials in the construction of the anti-tide system in Venice. Galan, former governor of Veneto and former minister, said he was "totally unrelated to the facts" that are being contested.
