He died this morning, just 60 years old, Andrew Riello, prominent entrepreneur and former president of Confindustria Veneto from May 2005 to January 2009 and since 2002 in the National Executive Council of Confindustria. Riello, president and CEO of Riello Systems in Minerba (Verona), he was struck down by a heart attack.

Andrea Riello: Who was he?

Born in 1962 in Venice, Riello had graduated in Business Economics at the Ca' Foscari University at the age of 23, and then moved to Brussels and London, where he had attended Polytechnic of Central London. Back in Italy he had started managing Riello Machines (today Riello Sistemi Spa) as managing director starting from 1991. From 2001 he was president of Riello Systems, a group with over 500 employees and four production plants. He was also president of the Campiello Foundation, member of the board of directors of Unicredit and board member of Save SpA, a company listed on the Milan Stock Exchange, concessionary for the management of the Venice airport. Between 2002 and 2004 Riello was also President of Federmacchine, the national federation of Confindustria which brings together the eleven trade associations of machinery manufacturers.

The condolences of politicians and entrepreneurs

“He was a man and an entrepreneur of great value and vision, capable of creating a leading company in his sector. He was always with a smile,” she said Luca Zaia, president of the Veneto Region. Enrico Letta, secretary of the Democratic Party, wrote on Twitter: “I am sad to hear the news of the sudden passing of Andrea Riello. I am close to his loved ones. A great regret."

"There is news that you would never want to hear and the death of Andrea Riello is one of them", commented the president of Confindustria Veneto Enrico Carrara. “We were bound together – continued Carraro – by a feeling of esteem and friendship and the fact that he passed away so suddenly leaves me totally dismayed and full of pain. I want to express my strongest and most sincere closeness to the family, to father Pilade, mother Ileana and all her loved ones, both on a personal level and as president of Confindustria Veneto and the Campiello Foundation, a reality that before me she always guided with great commitment and passion. The same passion he put into his daily work and which allowed his company to achieve extraordinary results. He is for me an unforgettable example of a man and an entrepreneur. We will miss him strongly and for a long time, for how he contributed with his heart, intelligence, humanity, vision to the economic and cultural growth of our country and of the entire Veneto entrepreneurial system ”.
