Moody's cuts rating of 17 German banks: negative outlook

Moody's continues to reap victims: in fact, the rating agency, after having revised even the outlook of Germany and the State-saving Fund towards the worse, has just reassessed the prospects of 17 German banks and their subsidiaries from 'stable' to 'negative', after having also reduced the rating due to the uncertainties in the euro area on the most important German Lander, six in all, including Bavaria and North Rhein Westphalia.

The affected banks are those whose debts are in some way supported by the federal state or by the Lander, explains the rating agency in a note. Among the banks there are institutes such as Deutsche Postbank, Bayerische Landesbank, Ikb Deutsche Industriebank.
