Mario Monti's attempt to form a new government has undergone a positive acceleration this morning. So much so that immediately after the morning's meetings he went to report to President Napolitano. The impression is that we could be on the finishing straight. The president in charge has essentially received the go-ahead from the two main parties: the Pd and the Pdl.
The meeting with the CGIL delegation is also expected shortly, which in recent days had not hidden its distrust on more than one programmatic aspect, but which is showing itself to be increasingly optimistic about the meeting with Monti. At this point, the Bocconi professor could lift the reservation as soon as possible and the hypothesis that the Government could be in the fullness of its constitutional prerogatives (with the confidence of the Senate and the Chamber) by the end of the week would materialize more and more.
At the end of the morning it was the PDL secretary Angelino Alfano who gave the impression that many of his party's reservations and suspicions were on the way to being overcome. A final reason for controversy arose from an interview with Bocchino for which the third pole would have thought of nominating Monti as prime minister in the event of elections.
