La Montepaschi Foundation “he cannot have all his assets invested in the single asset of the Bank. This will mean over time reduce your shareholding further". The announcement came today from the president of Banca Mps, Alessandro Profumo, who spoke this morning during a broadcast on a Sienese television station.
"It is a complex path - added Profumo - to be followed with great understanding and attention". The President believes that the Foundation's problems can be solved by realizing in business plan of the Bank, which in turn must "become profitable again". At that point, "we will have the ability to disburse dividends that will inevitably be lower for the Foundation than there were in the moments of maximum splendour".
To date, the Mps Foundation is the majority shareholder of Montepaschi with 36,5% of the capital. At the end of the morning, the Bank's share on the Stock Exchange was in slightly positive territory (+0,33%).
