Montepaschi, Guzzetti (Acri): "We will not buy shares from the MPS Foundation, nor will we participate in the increase"

Acri's number one: “We've done our part, we can't go any further. I don't see how to intervene in the sale operations of the Foundation or in the recapitalization. It is not feasible for foundations to increase their stakes in other banks, if anything there is talk of divestment".

The Italian banking foundations withdraw from the Mps case: they will not participate in any way in the recapitalization of the Sienese institution, nor will they buy the shares of the Bank sold by the Mps Foundation. He said it today Joseph Guzzetti, president of the association of Italian banking foundations (acres), presenting the initiatives organized for tomorrow, Savings Day.

“They want to kick us out of the banks we are in, it would be amiss for us to go and take shares in other banks – explained Guzzetti -. We helped the Mps Foundation when it had to make divestment operations (as in the sale of shares in CDP, F2i and Intesa Sanpaolo, ed)”.

The Foundation, which owns 33,5% of Banca Mps, is studying times and ways to further reduce the Bank's capital.

“We have done our part, we cannot go further – concluded Guzzetti -. I don't see how to intervene in the sale operations of the Foundation or in the recapitalization. It is not feasible for foundations to increase their shares in other banks, if anything there is talk of divestment of shares”.

At the beginning of the afternoon, MPS shares gained 0,8%.
