Russia, Portugal, Argentina and France on one side of the draw, Brazil, Germany, Belgium and Poland on the other, with loose cannon Spain which ended up in group B against Cristiano Ronaldo and his companions: thus the top seeds were divided into occasion of draw, held in Moscow, for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, which will start on 14 June. The first four teams mentioned have been placed, in order, in groups from A to D, and the others from E to H.
Together with the hosts of the Russia, in group A, are finished: Uruguay, Egypt and Saudi Arabia. The opening match will be Russia-Saudi Arabia. Shocking situation instead in group B, with a all-Iberian duel between Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal and 2010 world champion Spain. The third team drawn is Iran, finally Morocco.
In group C together with France go Peru, Denmark and Australia, one of the last teams to qualify (Peru was last, and Denmark also had to make the playoffs). In the D it is Maradona himself who draws lots, for his Argentina, the very dangerous Croatia of Modric and Rakitic, then the debuting Iceland and finally Nigeria.
Brazil in group E finds Switzerland, Costa Rica and Serbia. Holders and again favorites Germany are drawn against Mexico, Sweden which eliminated Italy, and South Korea. In group G there are England, Belgium, Tunisia, and the other debutant of this edition: Panama. Poland, Colombia, Senegal, Japan make up the last group, the H.
