Ventura's Italy made no mistake: in Palermo, they beat Albania 2-0 and kept pace with Spain at the top of group G qualifying for the 2018 World Cup. They did so on an evening also marked by the temporary suspension of the match in the second half for the smoke bombs launched by a group of Albanian ultras: but they are three heavy points, which should lock down the second place useful for the play-offs, waiting to look for the coup in September in Iberian soil.

After 10' it was thanks to a naive but clear foul by Basha that overwhelmed Belotti in the area that De Rossi was able to go to the penalty spot, to score his 20th goal for the Azzurri, the 3rd in the Palermo stadium. The goal of the final 2-0 was instead signed in the second half by Ciro Immobile from Lazio, following a cross from Zappacosta.
