Turnover increased by 2% and EBITDA by 8,1% – Financial position in the red by almost 400 million – Bad books, magazines and advertising, while retail and activities in France were promoted.

Positive numbers for Mondadori in the last half-year accounts. Compared to the January-June 2010 period, turnover increased by 2% (from 726,8 to 741,4 million), the gross operating margin by 8,1% (from 54,6 to 59 million) and the net profit of even 50,3% (from 15,1 to 22,7 million). Despite the payment of 40,3 million for 2010 dividends, the company's net financial position has not worsened much compared to that of 30 June last year, going from -393 to -399,2 million.

As for the individual business areas, the books sector recorded a turnover of 166,9 million (-0,6%), while the magazines sector suffered an even greater recession, stopping at revenues of 247,8 million ( -0,9%). TV (-2,3%), newspapers (-4%) and radio (-8,4%) were also very bad. Better results from activity in France, where the magazines sector had a turnover of 172,4 million, up by 2,4%. Serious contraction for advertising investments, backlogs of 2,8% in the first five months of the year. Mondadori Pubblicità instead lost 2%. Direct and retail were much better, which recorded revenues of over 123 million euros, up 13%.
