After the success in the United States and in the United Kingdom, which has allowed the American giant to double its revenues, the kindle is ready to land in Italy. Mondadori and Amazon today signed an agreement whereby more than 2 digital titles from the Segrate group will be available in the kindle store by the summer.
Italian users can buy the kindle on amazon.co.uk, amazon.de and amazon.com.

The Mondadori trade catalogue, which includes Einaudi, Sperling&Kupfer and Piemme editions, has more than 10.000 titles, of which over 2 in e-book format, to which another thousand will be added by Christmas. Since last January, all the Group's main innovations have been launched simultaneously in paper and digital format.

"The agreement with Amazon represents for Mondadori an important step in the broader digital development strategy of our Group", declared Maurizio Costa, Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of Mondadori, confident that 2012 will be the year of launch of the e-book market in Italy. “A market in which Mondadori aims to play a driving role, making a cultural heritage of over 2012 books available to readers by 8.000 in digital format. And we are particularly pleased to take this step together with Amazon,” concluded Costa.

Greg Greeley, vice president of Amazon Europe, said he was excited to open the kindle market to Italian readers, who will join users in over 100 countries who already have access to thousands of foreign-language titles.
