Molmed: Japanese takeover bid, ok from Fininvest, rally on the stock market

The Japanese group agc launch a takeover bid on MolMed after reaching an agreement with Fininvest. Il Biscione, the main shareholder of the biotechnology company, will adhere with all the shares in its possession, equal to 23,12% of the capital.

The takeover bid – already accepted and positively evaluated by the MolMed board – is aimed at the delisting and recognizes its adherents €0,518 per share, price incorporating a premium of 110,3% compared to closing on Monday. In case of full acceptance of the offer, Agc will pay 240 million euros. On balance, the collection for the Berlusconi family should be around 55 million euros.

The news obviously has gave wings to Molmed's share on the Stock Exchange, which at the beginning of the afternoon gained 83%, to 0,474 euro, approaching the price of the takeover bid.

AGC announced that the offer "is aimed at ensuring the stability of the shareholding necessary to allow Molmed to benefit from future development and growth opportunities".

According to Alfa sources cited by the Radiocor news agency, Fininvest's exit from Molmed is consistent with the holding's strategy to focus on the core businesses of TV and publishing. Furthermore, the transaction allows the entry of a global partner such as the Agc group, which will guarantee MolMed to significantly consolidate its track record in a sector in which investment capacity and international dimension make the difference.

The news related to Molmed broke sprint on the stock exchange for the entire Italian healthcare sector. The index FTSE Italy Health Care it opened the day at 169.949,8 points, with a sprint of 4.507,3 points compared to the previous close, and at mid-day gains 1,72%, to 169.728,94 points.

Among the individual titles stands out that of Recordati, which records an increase of 3,5%, to 34,26 euros.

In the same minutes the Ftse Eb floats around parity, thus failing the attempt to rebound after the last black Monday.
