Modigliani, the large nude sold for 157,2 million

The painting "Nu Couché (Sur Le Côté Gauche)", by Amedeo Modigliani, was sold for 157 million dollars (about 132 million euros) at the end of an auction organized by Sotheby's

From the magazine “FIRST Arte” – We publish below the news of the sale by Sotheby's of the large Modigliani nude. Half of the value of the auction on the evening of 14 May was due to a single lot, one of the 22 large nudes painted by Amedeo Modigliani in Paris.

To win the work, the buyer had to exceed the estimate of the work by a few million.

Reclining nude it's not just the biggest job of his career Amedeo Modigliani and his largest nude – particularly sensual – is now also the most valuable work ever sold to Sotheby's, sold for $157,2 million during the Impressionist and Modern Art auction held yesterday, May 14th. The work was previously purchased in 2003 for $26,9 million.

Other works have made outstanding achievements, in 2010, the oil painting by Modigliani Nu Assis Sur Un Divan (La Belle Romaine) of 1917 was sold at Sotheby's New York for $69 million. In 2014 his sculpture Tête 1911 – 12 reached $70,7 million at Sotheby's New York……
