Modena celebrates chocolate from October 31st to November 3rd: at Sciocolà 2024 a maxi sculpture in honor of Bottura

The sweetest event of the year will transform the center of Modena into a paradise for chocolate lovers, with a maxi sculpture dedicated to Massimo Bottura, created by the master Mirco della Vecchia

Modena is preparing for a very sweet tour de force 31 3 from October to November, welcoming the sixth edition of Silly me, festival dedicated to homemade chocolate. While children start thinking about Halloween costumes, adults prepare for a big cocoa binge. Here, chocolate is not just an ingredient: it is a real protagonist that will pour into the historic center of the city in all its shapes, colors and flavors.

Admission to the festival is free. Sciocolà is promoted by Cna Modena and organized by Sgp Grandi Eventi Srl in partnership with Acai, with the patronage of the Municipality of Modena, the Emilia Romagna Region and the Modena Chamber of Commerce. To amplify the festive atmosphere, there will be Radio Bruno as the official radio of the event.

Sciocolà 2024: a journey through artisanal chocolate, music and delicious sculptures

Visitors will be able to lose themselves in the charming streets of Modena, surrounded by the irresistible aroma of chocolate and melodies ranging from classical music al jazz. Master chocolatiers and pastry chefs will showcase their confectionery works of art, offering tastings of artisanal delicacies. The public will be able to delight in every type of chocolate: from classic milk, dark, white, to more particular versions such as citrus chocolate, chili pepper, pistachio and even gluten-free variants.

The historic squares of Modena, such as Piazza Grande and Piazza Matteotti, will become the beating heart of the event, animated by shows and activities for all ages. They will be organized cooking show, meetings gastronomic-cultural, book presentations e workshops for children, involving the public thanks to a rich program.

Among the main attractions of this year stands out a maxi chocolate sculpture dedicated to Massimo Bottura, made by Master Mirco della Vecchia. This tribute to the famous chef will be on display throughout the festival, becoming a true symbol of the event. There will also be competitive moments, with the competition for the best praline, chaired by Marisa Tognarelli, which will make the atmosphere even more lively.

Awards and celebrations

Sciocolà does not limit itself to celebrating chocolate, but also offers awards e awards to honor excellence in the field of pastry making. The “Sciocola' d'Oro” awards ceremony will be one of the highlights of the event, with this year's award going to Modena City Ramblers, a famous band linked to the city. The “Sciocola' in Rosa” will be awarded to Elisa Guidelli e Silvia Knights, in recognition of their commitment to promoting female excellence in the industry.

Furthermore, the “Pietro Piccagliani” award, in honour of a well-known chocolatier from Carpi, will be conferred to James Bellantoni, a young talent of the Italian Chocolate Industry, to encourage and help the new generations grow in this fascinating sector. Finally, the “Ambassador of Taste 2024” award will be assigned to Iginio massari, a reference figure in the world of high-end pastry making, confirming Sciocolà's commitment to promoting the best of the gastronomic panorama.
