The president of the National Council of Accountants and Auditors, Gerardo Longobardi, has officially requested an extension of the deadline for submitting the model 770/2015 currently scheduled for Friday 31 July.
By the end of the month, in fact, withholding agents will have to declare and certify the wages assigned to their employees and the tax and social security withholdings applied.
Extension of Model 770/2015: reasons
There are only 10 days left before the deadline for submitting the model and, like every year, the National Council of Accountants has requested the postponement of the deadline to 20 September 2015.
The letter containing the extension request was sent in parallel to the Ministry of Economy and Finance and to the Revenue Agency. Recipients: the Minister of the Economy, Pier Carlo Padoan, the Deputy Minister Luigi Casero and the Directors of the Department of Finance and the Revenue Agency, Fabrizia Lapecorella and Rossella Orlandi.
The reasons behind the choice lie in the need to have more time to better manage the tax compliance of the 770/2015 model, also taking into account the fact that other tax deadlines are also foreseen on 31 July: the Single Certification for the self-employed, the Irpef installments, the sector studies and the processing of the good-natured notices arrived in these days. Not to mention that tomorrow, 23 July, the deadline to send the pre-compiled Model 730 electronically to the tax authorities will expire.
Model 770/2015: the possible date
The date chosen by the accountants as the deadline for the presentation is the September 20. At the moment, however, it seems that the MEF is not willing to decide on a postponement. In fact, during a question time in the Chamber, it was stated that "there are no valid technical reasons for deferring the deadline for submitting model 770/2015"
According to Viale XX Settembre, the extension could have the only result of postponing the tax bottleneck from July to September, the month in which taxpayers will have to submit the Unico form, VAT and IRAP returns.
