Fashion: Elio Fiorucci dies in Milan

The designer passed away at the age of 80 Elio Fiorucci: was found dead this morning by his family assistant, in his Milanese home in viale Vittorio Veneto. Fiorucci, Milanese by birth, had turned 80 on 10 June last.

His long and brilliant career, which began dealing with fashion with his father, had its baptism of fire with the opening of his first shop in Galleria Passarella, inaugurated in 1967. The production of clothes instead began a few years later, in 1970. Soon his "pop" and revolutionary style was successful all over the world: he opened shops in London and New York. After thirty years of expansion, in 1990 he sold the company to the Japanese company Edwin International, keeping the design center in Milan.
