Fashion: Missoni denies the rumors, the company will remain independent

According to a quarter reported in an interview with IlSole24Ore, the Missoni group will remain independent.

Angela Missoni, creative director and partner of the Milanese maison together with her brother Luca, declares: "We have just finished a board of directors and on the agenda there is no total or partial transfer of the company founded in 1953 by our parents Ottavio and Rosita. In short, there are no negotiations in progress ”.

In fact, there had been talk of a courtship by the Mayhoola fund, headed by the Qatari royals, who, after purchasing Valentino, seemed interested in the Milanese maison. "We have not given any mandate in this sense - Missoni denies - nor have we never had a coffee with the emissaries of Qatar or with other interlocutors. Unfortunately, the rumors have been intensifying for a year and the pressure is now just too much”.

The company, which belongs to the luxury craftsmanship segment, employs three of the founding partner's nine grandchildren who actively participate in the functions and initiatives of the group.

As far as the accounts are concerned, Missoni closed 2013 with a wholesale turnover of approximately 170 million, while that of Missoni Spa (which includes the first women's and men's lines, beachwear and children's clothing) was 70%, with a almost 12% ebitda and 3% net profits.
